1/6 Ambrotype; One of my favorite Confederate images I’ve had the privilege of owning, this image has a fantastic tinted pink battle shirt. One may think that he is sporting a Colt 1851 Navy but if you look closely you can see the barrel doesn’t remain octagon, it turns round and the frame obviously isn’t brass so it can’t be a Griswold which means it has to be a Leech & Rigdon. The case sports period written information and a name “E J Stewart Chattanooga Tenn March 18th 62 ”. This image was sold somewhat recently but was never removed from the case so the information was missed. We have found 2 probable identifications, one being the and one being the . We feel pretty confident that this is likely the Tennessee Cavalryman.
